We've officially been on the metric system for 30 years. But mainly to
measure soft drinks and narcotics. :)

The big problem is not the metric system, but that the US and UK have
units with slightly different sizes but the same names (pint, gallon,
and a few others). It would be like if Belgium started using kilograms
 that were 1024 grams.

Americans made the acronyms for Scuba and Laser (I think).

I think it's time to let the Canadians and Aussies to take a crack at
the at a new acronym. any takers?
