The obvious choices would be 'pikeman', 'spearman' or 'halberdier'. Of

the third sounds the least like cannon fodder.
If they are too specific, I'd advise choosing a class name based upon their
role. For example, if they are defensive units, 'Guardian' or 'Sentinel'.
You
can also look to mythology: I've seen a 'Valkyrie' as a spear class before,
and on Shadowbane, the 'Huntress' was a spear class.
