- UO Advanced Character Service Christopher Allen
Ultima Online, for their 5th anniversary is offering some new 'powerup'
services:
http://www.uo.com/uopowerup.html
but I thought the Advanced Character Service itself the most
interesting one:
http://support.uo.com/namechange.html
This is something that we've been considering at Skotos for some
time, a "gift of fate" for starting characters, as we are unable to
do what Achaea does with our current base of customers, for
'selling' advancement they would not approve of. But a "gift of
fate" would be tolerated and it would allow us to increase revenues.

ADVANCED CHARACTER SERVICE
Purchasing an Advanced Character is a great way to move quickly
ahead in specific areas of the game without taking a character
through every step of the building-up process. It is particularly
useful if you are purchasing this character as an additional
character on an existing account and you are already familiar with
the development process but you want or need a specific type of
character for your account. This service really helps to move you
into the fast lane!
Get your Advanced Character NOW for $29.95 (Per Character - One time
fee) Here's how the Advanced Character service works:
1. First, select a type of character from the available templates
below.
2. Next, contact our customer service department at 866-543-5435
(choose option 2, then press #2) to get the process started.
3. Customer service will validate the status of your account and
the Advanced Character template you wish to purchase and will then
apply the service fee.
4. At that point, your account will be forwarded to the Game
Master staff to complete the process by advancing your character
in game before your eyes.
THINGS TO KNOW:
The Character Advancement Service is only available on the North
American, European, and Australian shards.
The character must be a newly created character with an empty bank
box.
Upon purchase of the service, a Game Master will advance the
character from the chosen template marked on the account by the
customer service department - you will not be able to change skills
from the given template or ask for personalized templates.
Once a Game Master has advanced your character the rest of the skill
advancement is up to you - all of the templates leave room for you
to add and learn additional skills. A GM will not readjust skills
after the advancement for any reason.
This program is not offered on the Siege Perilous shard. This new
service is available NOW! Call 866-543-5435 (choose option 2, then
press #2), toll-free, Monday through Friday, from 9:00am to 7:00pm
CT & Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
Advanced Character Templates:
Mage/Wizard: Mages are among the most powerful characters in the
game. Their spells can not only damage attackers from a distance,
but can be used for transportation and healing as well. Some mages
are also able to resist magic when it is wielded against them. Mages
using meditation to regenerate their fearsome power and the ability
to inscribe skills to supplement their other skills will soon find
themselves at the right end of the food chain.

Warrior - Swordsman/Fencing/Mace/Archery: If looking the enemy in the
eye appeals to you, or if you prefer the safe solidity of an arrow over
magic, the warrior is the character for you. With their weapons in hand,
these characters can battle almost anywhere in the world of Britannia.
Warriors are often valuable party members, whether on a boat, on land,
or in the caverns beneath the earth, as their fighting skills and
healing abilities hold the line against their opponents.

Blacksmith: Few characters can survive in the world without the
blacksmith behind them, giving support. Their ability to mine
precious ore, and blacksmithing ability to shape it into weapons and
armor, keeps the warriors supplied (not to mention being a source of
wealth!). Their tinkering ability keeps the thieves of the world
supplied with lock picks and the romantics of the world supplied
with jewelry. Strong and capable, many characters go to the smith
when they need armor repairs or in other times of need. 85

Tamer: Tamers have command over many of the awesome beasts that
wander the land-and over some of the monsters as well! Far from
simply being a supplier of mounts to the other inhabitants of
Britannia, tamers are combatants in their own right, particularly
with magery to supplement the damage done by their mounts. The
abilities to heal their pets and to know the characteristics of the
creatures of the world round out the tamers' skills, making them
powerful indeed.

Alchemy: Although alchemists do not do battle themselves, they are
often the unsung heroes of many campaigns. Their potions are used to
give sight to those who wander the dark dungeons, to heal the
warriors, or to poison blades for greater damage. Outside of combat,
an alchemist's potions are used as supplements to grow and fertilize
the plants many characters use as decorations for their homes. Using
carpentry and tinkering, they are capable of creating kegs for their
wares, so that interested buyers can purchase them in
bulk. Alchemists of sufficient skill can also create glassware for
decoration-useful characters indeed, for many occasions.
